Residents living in Rhyl. Meliden and Prestatyn can access a service which is thought to be the first of its kind in the UK.

GPs generally have only ten-minute slots to see patients – so this service is aimed at those who need to have a longer chat with a practitioner who will provide advice and help.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team Practitioners are trained to assess patient needs and if necessary, signpost them to either the GP or to other services. The team is based in a GP surgery and have direct contact with all GPs in the coastal area.

Anyone can access this same day service by asking the receptionist at their GP surgery. Patients are given a time slot when the practitioner will call them back and provide a ‘listening ear’ as well as in-depth support.
